That will help get people cycling. It also makes the 4.2% tube and bus fare increases seem palatable.

Is that to fund a basic maths course for Bob Crow?
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

The average rise (blah) means some fares will go up by more than 4.2% while some will go up by less.

Phew! Glad they pointed that out...

Thanks for the link. I currently have an annual membership which for £45pa seemed reasonable given all my journeys are within 30 mins. Having said that, trying to find bikes at rush hour times around train stations etc is usually pretty hard and I was already mulling buying a beater to do the trips when membership expires. Given it'll be £90pa from next year the decision is made!

Interestingly, I did the original £45pa a year or two ago. I then cancelled it, and was offered a PAYG option. Keep the key (linked to your credit card), no annual charge and £1 access for 24 hours, unlimited 30 minute journeys.

That now looks like a much better option, if you don't want the annual charge hanging over you.

    That's going up to £2

The jump from £1 to £2 will put me off my very occasional use. Awful decision.
