Why did I buy it...... Why not (it is unwarranted and unjustified, after all  )
You didn't say it had to be bike related......

If it has to be bike related, then it's my Aeolus 5.0 ACC wheels; I neither require nor can justify them, but I wanted them. N pic, other than on my bike, and you said no pics of complete bikes.

As it is chew-off-my-hand beautiful its in

And I'm sure there's carbon in there somewhere so in a roundabout way it's bike related

  • Zipp 404 clinchers. I almost never use them after cracking the carbon on the first front wheel hitting a pothole. I've also never managed to get the shifting quite right either. Added to that, for some reason I'm terrible at descending on them.

What make is worse is that I bought Dura Ace C24s this time last year for less than half what I spent on the Zipps. They're much better wheels in almost every respect.

Still, at least the Zipps look good on my Van Nicholas...

Sorry can't help with this thread, absolutely everything that I buy is completely necessary :D
  • Probably my Ltd pair of white Conti GP4000's i bought on order from Germany. Haven't really used em much & are currently bikeless! When my lovely black Canyon frameset arrives, i will put these on my American Classic 420's to go with it.

Also, a blingin silver chrome Salsa seat clamp, plus 3 different pairs of KCNC valve caps.
  • mine would have to be my garmin edge 200 as its only on my bike as i got £50 worth of halfords vouchers, £30 cashback & £10 discount for reserving online

only used really to check time whilst commuting, have never uploaded any data, often forget to turn it on & only just charged today after it ran out wednesday morning :)

Back when I was making music, a minimoog voyager. It sounded amazing. But Jesus, what a waste of money.

When I was 18 I had a picture of 2Pac commissioned in crayon. Looked more like Charles Barkley.

My Chris King headset, i bought it because it looks bloody lovely but I'm pretty certain there is no performance advantage!
  • 'cycling' socks.. no different to any normal pair of sports socks just triple the price.
  • Probably some of the dodgy 80’s Italian Disco records in my collection that change hands for hundreds of Euro’s, or the original Escape from New York lobby poster signed by the cast that I’m so scared of exposing to sunshine that it’s facing the wall. A fool and his money.
  • My Assos kit, but i like the look and feel of it regardless of whether or not it has any performance benefits over cheaper alternatives

A Rimowa Topas IATA roll on cabin bag made of shiny aluminium for the best part of £500.

Which is a lot for a bit of luggage.

In my favour, I do fly almost every week, and I have gone through a lot of cheap (and a few expensive) bits of luggage over the last couple of years. Hopefully this one will outlast me.

Are you for real with this?

If you are why not just put it on a wall that doesn't get any direct sunlight?

Well, if nothing else, this really made me laugh.

Right now those walls are taken up by orignal posters of The Thing, Blade Runner, Marathon Man, Ferris Bullers Day Off (a German one aka 'Ferris Macht Blau') and an Olly Moss original - I like movie posters...and records...and bikes OK...it's a sickness

  • My Garmin Edge 800 and my Look Keo 2 Max Carbon pedals. Did I really need a full gps when I'm on my bike (but I have to admit it is a great piece of kit) and my trusty Look Delta pedals were working fine (they are over 20 years old though, so I think I just deserve a new pair).

I just can't get used to having "float" built into the cleats... what's that all about
Still trying to convince the missus of the n+1 rule...!
  • Wasting 180 quid on carbon pedals and then going out on them after two weeks for them to brake thirty five miles from home home :x

That's easy - the super record. It's just chorus with added bling and subtracted weight to the tune of about half a water bottle. But do I regret it? Nope.

Always a problems when there is several models to choose from at different specs and prices.

Do I just need a budget laptop or spend that bit more on a 15inch macbook pro with retna screen on the credit card?

Alan Sugars autobiography is a good read on how he did marketing tricks, making people spend extra on things they didn't need. If people bought radios with 2 transistors, he'd advertise radios with 4 and charge extra. In reality the other 2 transistors didn't make any difference.
He once fitted a fan to one of his Amstrad computers that didn't cool anything, because the customers didn't like the idea of a computer without a fan. He said he would make a computer that was pink with yellow dots if the customers were happy to pay extra for it.
