This morning was the first proper taste of winter, crisp and sunny day but with a frost on the ground and my breath clearly visible. I think I almost enjoy riding more in this kind of weather, hardly broke a sweat so clean up and changing time was much faster once I got to work and to say I feel refreshed is an understatement !!
Its good this Cycling lark isnt it !!

First day this year that I've had that feeling like I've just been punched in the nose as I leave the house.
  • Country roads at times at night are 'interesting' as you go through patches that are colder than everywhere else.. or flooded
  • Loved riding to work yesterday. Cold, but dry and no wind.
Riding home was ok until a car hit me.

As long as it's not raining and your hands and ears are nice and warm I don't think the cold is much of an issue. The ears thing might be less of a concern for people with smaller ears.

I had this monday evening. Cycled back from work at 8pm, knew it was gonna be about 2C, what was less welcome was the fog. I hadn't expected that, not so nice.

Cold, yes, but the kit worked so I was nice and warm. If it gets icy, then I'm not riding.

  • It's not the temperature so much that bothers me, but I just can't face it when it's below 5c AND wet. I'm actually getting annoyed, fucking weather!

    You forgot toes.
  • Go look at the pic in the thread about my crash. My toes come with built in insulation.

    I've been considering this solution.

My toes are the first things to chill and it's not fun, especially when you start descending and create a gale over your feet.
