Rear Derailleurs

Hi all,

I just bought my first bike in many years for commuting my 6 mile journey to work and back every day, it's a used carrera vulcan, a 2008 model I think.

Problem is my rear derailleur has snapped clean off so I need a new one, do I need to buy the same one? I think it's a sram x4, or can anyone recommend a good alternative, I dont want to pay a lot of money if possible :(

    it needs to be another Sram one.

    but has the mech broken or is it the Mech hanger? if the hanger contact Halfords about a new one.
