Has anyone got any experience of the Union 34 seatpost rucksack? There's an advert in Cycling Active this month but I've never seen one in the shops. I was planning on getting a Carradice SQR Slim bag but this may be a better option.

any thoughts?

  • Union 34 are fairly new to the market so difficult to compare the practicalities against the Carradice.

Union 34 is larger but doesn't come with a mount and the mounts are unique to Union 34. Carradice comes with Klikfix SQR system which will fit other bags.

  • Hi, I have a Union 34 rucksack pannier bag, and while its not the seatpost version i think the bag is the same. I have only had it for a few weeks and its great. If you carry a laptop its especially good for that as it has a little laptop padded bag inside it. The other part is really roomy with loads of handy pockets. Its water resistant and has a waterproof cover for when its really lashing. It nice and comfy when worn on your back too! Reccomended!
  • Hi,
Thanks for your interest in Union 34 Stripe seat post. I am the brand manager for Union 34 so I hope I can help your decision making!
The Carradice is an excellent product but the Union 34 Stripe is in our opinion more versatile as we have styled and engineered the product to cater for a cyclists needs on and off the bike (office etc) – so that you only need one bag. The bag has 30ltrs of storage space but the design enables it to remain quite compact despite how much you can squeeze in to it.
To learn more about the Stripe bag and our full range including apparel plus your nearest stockist please visit our Facebook page www.facebook.com/union34uk or check out our YouTube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHoIgiEJGKk
Although designed for your commute some of our more adventurous buyers have even done light touring with the product.
I hope this was of some help. If you have any more questions please let us know via Facebook/ @Union34UK

  • Thanks for the reply Jon.

Am I right in thinking that the Union 34 product is almost £80 plus about £30 for the seatpost mounting part? There isn'tan option to buy the 2 items together?

Also, does the position of the bag mean that it will act as a mudguard too?

  • Hi,

The Stripe Seatpost Rucksack has a RRP of £79.99 and additional Seatpost Fixing System's RRP is £29.99 but prices can vary between retailers so please do feel free to shop around. Wiggle (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/union-34/) are doing great offers on the two items at the moment that maybe of interest to you.

Alternatively, we also have a Stripe Pannier Rucksack that includes a pannier seatpost fixing with the bag with a RRP of £79.99 with that included. This bag attaches to a pannier rack and is available in both left and right handed fixing.

The bag does not act as a mudguard and is not recommended to be used as one however it does include a rain cover to prevent any water and mud damage to the bag.

Our full range is available to see on the Facebook page and if there is anything else you would like to know then please do not hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
    Jon
