Nice. Single ring is the future, I have a similar set up on my Anthem. These things climb so well I never used my granny ring.
what does this weigh with this set up?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Bang on 11kg will be a bit lighter when I still a Ralph on the back the Crossmark is just a temporary tyre and is really crap in the wet. And yes it does climb well only thing I don't like is the press fit BB.0

Press fit BB's are a stupid idea. I have got a Chris King BB now which is expensive but has a 5 year guarantee and is serviceable.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I'll see what my options are when is comes to replacement time. Gave a it all a good clean and regrease and it was quieter but who knows for how long, I much prefer the threaded cups on the HTII BB's.0

you could get rid of that long cage mech now you've gone single ring. If you're running 10sp, the FR version of the Zee mech would be on my list"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I think Zee is a bit overkill for my use though, i'll more than likely just get a med cage XT Shadow+ once I have killed this one.0

If you want a short cage Shimano mech you don't have much choice really. And the Zee mech is cheaper than the XT. Personally I will always fit a mech with as short a cage as I can get away with."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

'Scuse my ignorance, but what's the deal with the different cage lengths? I'm contemplating buying a clutch mech at some point, but don't know what the short/medium/long cage choice is about, or which one I'd need.0

The mech will have a maximum capacity. e.g. the GS (medium cage) M786 (XT) mech has a capacity of 35T
To work out the total capacity of your drivetrain is very simple;
(Biggest Ring - Smallest Ring) + (Biggest Cog - Smallest Cog)
My Rockhopper is (36-22) + (32-11) = 35. Spot on for a medium cage XT rear mech"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Medium cage xt or xtr would work great. It will be more controlled than a long cage and better suited to a light xc bike than a Zee mech.
Nothing wrong with Zee, I have one on order for my dh bike, its a great bit of kit but not as well made as xt or xtr. It doesn't seem to be made to last.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Yeah this is totally XC use, I'll be sticking with XT as XTR is more than I am willing to pay to be honest.0

Don't know why shimano don't make a shortcage SLX/XT mechs. Plenty of single ring bikes that aren't 'DH' bikes.
One place where SRAM has one over on them IMO as they seem to have short, medium and long cage rear mechs in most of their lines.
Broke the old (SGS) Deore mech on the NP Snap and would like to replace with a shortcage but that means I'd have to get a Zee (or Saint) 'DH' mech and replace the shifter and cassette as well. 9sp GS SLX on order"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
