Im looking at getting together parts for a Tallboy Lt build. I am currently looking at Hope Pro 2's on Stans Flow rims but looking at the Superstar stuff Im wondering if it's worth trying them out?
Has anyone got any experience with the Superstar hubs? Looking at the Switch Evo hubs on flow rims.
Cheers,

Hell yeah, great kit for the money0

can't really find anything thats worse than hopes from the superstars, mine have been faultless so far, and the newer tesla hubs have much better bearings than the switch evo's. For the money you can't go wrong.0

I have the switch evo with their DH rims on my Canyon... brilliant hubs, brilliant rims, excellent build.
Still on my original bearings, but I imagine they need changing soon.0 -
Keep the good vibes coming! They sound ok so far then.
Which ones for the verging on all mountain then?Niner Air 9 Rigid

I'd be looking at Tesla or Trizoid over Switch, purely for the faster engagement.
I've had a set of Switch Evos on Flows (came in around 1,850g), and currently run 2 sets of Trizoids (one on Arch EX, with sapim sils and alloy nipples, 1630g. And one on superstar XC rims, 1750g).
What's your budget though?
For AM I'd go for Tesla on Arch EX.
My arch EX wheelset have done much riding, including an uplift day at inners, and they're still smooth as a smooth thing and straight as an arrow. Which is pretty awesome for a 1600g wheelset.0 -
The Tesla is pretty good. Been running one for a few months now - still going strong.A Flock of Birds

I have had the Switch Evo hubs on XC & DH wheels. Only fault was that the bearings can wear quickly (under 6 months) but they are still better than my Nukeproof Generator hubs.
They also make less a annoying noise than hope hubs.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I've had Switch Evo hubs for nearly a year and am very impressed with them, they've very easy to swap the end caps, service and replace the bearings which is good as the original bearing quality isn't the best but a full set of best quality bearings is only £38 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPERSTAR-SWI ... 1e70946535) so isn't a deal breaker, I'm not sure how much longer bearings in Hope hubs (etc) would last from new but I doubt it's years longer so you're going to need to replace them anyway.
Mine are built up with their AM490 rims and they're stiff and strong enough to shrug off my unskilled riding.0 -
Been running Trizoid on the rear and Switch EVO on the front (on Arch EX rims) all season. Very impressed. Very fast"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Switch Evo are decent budget hubs. Bearing quality, well they're not brilliant its one place you're saving money - expect to get 6 months - 1 year, if what I read on this forum is correct.
Hope bearings are better quality to start with, obviously you pay for this up front.0 -

Im looking at getting this frame with orange decals

Sounds sweet! I wanted to stay away from the white rims but that does sound nice. Or what about orange hubs, white spokes on black rims? cant afford the Fox forks on this buildNiner Air 9 Rigid

Dont point a jet washer anywhere near the hubs (this holds for any hubs) my mates EVO bearings died in less than 6 months because the numpty had been using a jet wash at the garage. I fitted new bearings from airborne10101 off ebay and they are spinning great nearly 2 years later. For the price you cant fault them theres better out there but for lots more money.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0
