Mudguards(hardtail)

I am using my whyte 19 hardtail as a commuter during the week. I really need mudguards now for winter but I think they look naff!!
Are there any mudguards that look ok?
I like the mrp one that fits on the fork but would that stop the water flicking up. I also have a crud catcher for the down tube. It's the rear guard that I need. Every one I have seen look shocking!!
I know that it's better than getting a wet backside!
Any help of a decent ish looking one would be very much appreciated
Cheers

Look at Beavertail, I think they are a reasonable price and look OK on MTB commuters.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

You could do worse than this:

Can be found cheaper than this elsewhere though if you hunt around.
I've had mine a while and it works great for my morning commute. The fixing strap is great. Takes a few seconds to fit or remove which is great. Once in place it stays there.
For the front I find that this works fine for such a simple design:

I just fitted a Mucky Nutz to the rear, not sure how effective it is yet, though...

Most mudguards look naff but then so does a brown stain up your back. Zefal Swan's look passable and are easily removed otherwise just accept they look fugly and get a crud one which has a bit sturdier mounting.0

do you just want a "clip on and go" type recommendation?

All of the above work fine but you'll keep dryer with full guards from SKS - if your bike had mudguard eyelets on the frame. They do look a bit naff though and are no good off road - the ones above are fine off road.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
