Such a ridiculous race.. Vettel has to be the luckiest person ever?

I feel sorry for Alonso as he's obviously the best driver on the grid.. he's just got a dog of a car and horrific luck. The same can be said for Hamilton to a certain extent..

    Is this about DRS?
  • Cracking race. Vettel didn't really deserve a podium in my opinion. Got lucky with the broken front wing and the first SC period. Then again pitting then the second SC allowing him to cruise back up to the leaders.

Still, got to be in it to win it.

  • What are you guys talking about. That was a fantastic drive from Vettel. He stormed through the field two and a half times and then got past Button (a driver who can defend very well) to take a podium spot. I say well done to him.

I'm getting bored of hearing that Alonso is the best driver. Out of all the skill sets a driver needs Alonso is the most consistent, but Hamilton and Vettel are better at nailing one lap and Hamilton is just a better racer. Anyway, if the Enfield team can produce a good car next year I know who I want to see as a double world champ.

Glad I watched it all. Wasn't really happy with Webber's performance, and then his crash was a bit stupid.

Vettel did really well. I would have liked him to come in further back, just to put it closer at the top, and pile on the pressure.
I haven't watched any races in a while, but Vettel did really show his ability to overtake and come from behind. Alonso also did well - I think if he didn't have to defend Button for a few laps, then he might have made the pass.

Shame about the number of safety cars. I am a fan of Button and wish he had podium'd, although I find his pit-lane chat could be more emotional. Oh well

Vettel didn't do any storming? Did you actually watch the race? I can give you an accurate account if you want?

    1. Vettel overtakes slow backmarkers with straight-line speed and a massively faster car. (he still manages to break his front wing from his dodgy driving)

    2. Never mind though! Safety car is out and Vettel can choose whether to fix the wing or not!... oh well.. whilst he was thinking about it he clouted a foam marker when he wasn't paying attention and has to fix it anyway - decision made!

    3. So its a free pit-stop with fresh tyres and he cruises back up to the pack under the safety car. Phew!

    4. Overtakes a few more slow drivers, a few drivers are knocked out by crashes and it looks like he's having a stormer

    5. Everyone in front hasn't pitted yet.. so they go in for their pitstops and all of a sudden he's leader on the road. No one is worried because he's still got to make another stop later for tyres.

    6. He stops for tyres.. looses 20 seconds.. but he's still in an ok position due to the bickering and crashes in the middle of the field. He's got to buy Mark a pint for his contribution to that  Alonso is set to lead the Championship at the end of the race.

    7. Another safety car lets him close the 20 second gap to the leading group... he's definitely having a stormer now! Such fantastic driver to close the gap under the safety car

    8. He overtakes button using his faster car and fresher tyres! well done him!

    9. Everyone goes mental because he's the the best driver evar!!!!11!!1

Well said Ali, everything I wanted to say, but couldn't be bothered. The two SC periods allowed him to close back up the the bunch. Prior to the first SC he was lapping slower than Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso, Button and Webber, due to his wing damage.

  • I've seen many a great driver get stuck behind a slower car and not be able to overtake even though they have a massively faster car. The boy did well. Also, you have to say well done to the team for starting in the pit lane with reconfigured gearings.
  • Has Vettel matured then as I haven't watched F1 for a couple of years, I thought he was known as a only win from the front driver and wasn't too good at eyeball to eyeball over-taking against the other decent drivers?

Of course he wasn't as fast as the leaders, he was trying to get through the field.

Granted he did get some luck with the second safety car, but some of that luck was made with the decision for him to start in the pit lane with a longer top gear.

He's still a little child at times but his racing got a lot better.
  • I thought Vettel did well, all be it with a bit of luck :)

Perez is having a white roof fitted to his car for the next race, he should go oval track stock car racing http://www.johnmarlow.net/warton-stock-car-club-2/car-roof-colours-grading-system

@ALIHISGREAT You forgot the point where Vettel comes up behind a Toro Roso (Spanish for Red Bull) and the car moves out of his way for him to pass. How many cars can a team run?

But I also don't like Alonso from the year he was in the same team as Button and screwed him over big time.

    Italian actually.

And Alonso & JB were never actually team-mates on track. Alonso was Renault's 3rd driver and JB was fired (after an extremely poor 2 years) to make way for him. He went on to win a race the very next season and then 2 championships for them, i'm sure they are not bitter.....

Damn it.. Did I really come across that way? I was just giving credit where it was due.

  • We live in Dubai and had 3 days worth of free VIP tickets to go thanks to my wife's employer, not my cup of tea so i didn't bother going. She went with some friends to the Kylie concert afterwards and loved it. We gave the tickets away to more friends for the night after when Eminem was doing his thing.

She says we are going to make a long weekend of it next year.

Make sure you do. It's well worth seeing/hearing an F1 car in the flesh at some point in your life. The amount of energy going on is just awesome.

But, 2hrs of it can become overwhelming if you don't really know what is happening.
