MadFibre Wheelset

I want to purchase a set of these wheels, Has anyone got any experience of Madfibre clinchers?

1200g a set and the most amazing looking wheels, just wandering what they are like from a 1st hand?

    2 and a half grand for a set of wheels? Have you robbed a bank? :shock:

    I don't know why people spend so much on wheels like that, when something like the Mavic R-Sys SLR is £1000 cheaper and only 95g a pair heavier...

    Or Mavic Cosmic Ultimates are cheaper, ligher, and probably have a much better support and spares.

    read a lot of reviews and never heard a fully positive one. I wanted a set as there was a used pair for sale here for £1000 but think was too heavy for them. If you google the reviews there is quite a lot of flaws with them, ant not stiff apparently. I would look for somthign else much better options out there for less money. If you want to spend that much I would get some lightweights from Germany.

    I know its tubular but its the same wheel. I woudl go for mavic ultimate and save a fortune at the same time

    imho if you want light cf wheels get tubs

    cf clinchers still end up heavy, you could get some nice handbuilt alloy clinchers under 1200g
    my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

    Did you actually read the weight of the MFs? I could criticise them for a variety of reasons, but they are very light for a deep section clincher.

    You'll more probably find useful information on a forum like weightweenies. There's plenty of 'fashion weenies' and very rich people, amongst the many tuners and average people, who have experience of these wheels.

    Whilst i tend to subscribe to the 'your money, your choice' view, i would agree with those above that you can do better things with 2.5k. Apart from the aesthetic, everything i've read about these wheels suggests they are distinctly average (for their price point).

    Even using Stans Alpha, which are not the stiffest rims, it's difficult to build a DECENT set of alloy wheels under 1200 grams. You end up with something very light, but also very difficult to ride and frankly crap...

    i don't think you realise that the claimed weight is 1300g according to madfiber, and i've seen people report measuring them higher, the original press release proposed a lower target weight, but from memory they upped int for the production wheels

    ugo, my point is that if the op wants a 1300g wheelset, there're cheaper ways to do it, i'm sure you'd agree that whether such a build is right for someone depends on their weight and how they plan to ride them

    MajorMantra, yes i know what they weigh - i've been following mf since they started and almost bought the tubs - but by the time you've added tubes and tyres they'll weigh 600g more with typical ones, that's 1900g, realy nothing special

    have you seen a pair close up - not impressed with the finishing - and at that price have you considered lightweights?

    I'd go for Enve and pocket the difference

    Thanks for the replies, I had read some reviews online, just wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with them.

    Doesnt sound like they come off too good. I have been looking at R-SYS mabye I will stick to them, I am a sucker for bling, which is why I was attracted to the Madfibre. If they got great reviews of weight, speed, stiffness etc...then I would be on em.

    I am not too keen on Cosmic's, the enve were on my list though :roll:

    enve are great wheels look up wheelsmith and see what he recomends in the FAQ section
