Training For A 12h Race?

I've signed up for the Bontrager Twentyfour12 next year doing the 12h Torchbearer race.
I'm under no illusion that I'm going to be anywhere near the sharp end but I'd like to try and get into a respectable place, preferably in the first half of the field.
Any suggestions for training apart from the obvious 'do lots of it'?
I've got nearly 9 months to train so hopefully that'll give me plenty of time.

Just do lots of riding...
Sorry, about all there is to it! You can get very involved with training plans and what not, but frankly you'll do as well just to ride lots!
Get used to eating on the bike, and on the day make sure you eat and drink enough, although realise that's 9 months off!
I did the Torchbearer in 2009, was good fun. Starting a midnight was a bit awkward, means you're awake for more than 24 hours by the end, even if you've not been riding for all of it.0
