Nah tis alright. I took the socom for a spin and it is different beast in everyway... i love it already but I've got to get it to some off road. It's lightening fast for a 37lb chugger!0

Future additions in the new year; I'm keeping my eye open for a 2009/2012 Dorado to prop the front end up with, and some Muddy Marys to hold the wheels together. I've a Superstar chainguide to put on when I find the BB spacing adaptor for it...0 -

That said the newer one looks a lot more suited. The shorter travel version definitely isn't though, it's got pretty scary looking geometry...0 -
Cheers both. I'm lovin' it so far. Bit gutted it's rained so much here as the local DH track will be too saturated to ride. Will just have to spend the day hovering and wrapping presents instead. Just as satisfactory as testing the new rig....0

I got out on the Socom for the first time yesterday. Took her down to Chicsands and I have to say she's lovely. Very fast, snappy, confident. Back end just eats up big drops. I put together a video of the ride too:

The forks however are shocking. They were beginning to hurt my wrists as they really don't move through their travel consistently. I'm planning on riding them into the ground before buying replacements though as I can't justify spending more money than I have recently... I'll have to get out on it more often to turn the innards into chaff sooner, then I can get something nice and shiney.0 -

That must make two Manitou fans on this board, including me, as far as I know
Bike looks very nice BTW!0 -

Ooh I've seen a Socom with Dorados on and they just look like they were made to be with one another... I had some Manitous I sold to Super and they were grand. Shouldn't have sold them for the price I did
Which ones have you had that you liked?0 -
good to see an other dorado fan i have just bought a 2013 set for a new build cant wait to see your finished build0

Oh she is finished now! I'll run these knackered boxxers until they're blown again then look into new forks, who knows when that will be? I'll have to get out on her as much as possible! Although, there's not many second hand Dorado's knocking about so I probably won't get my dream fork and will have to settle for Ford Boxxer...0 -

Loving my current shock (isx-6 Evolver, which I think is the same as the current 6-way Swinger Expert). My wife's bike has an old Swinger SPV on the back which performs really well for her.
I've not had any of their better forks - but them Dorado's look very nice.0 -

have a look for the new manitou dorado expert they are a cheaper version with the same internals just about 100g heavier alot of them on ebay from china / america with some with free postage
and i bought mine because i have always liked the look of them and there abit different from all the other dh forks0 -
Well, for the time being the idea of a new triple is out and some 170mm lyriks are on...
I'd like a proper 180mm travel fork as I've got a stack of spacers under the steerer to lift the front end a bit, but it doesn't handle too bad at all on the street. At 34.8lbs with heavy knobblies on, I'm pretty pleased.0
