    "This report contains flash photography"

Just don't watch the fcuking news if you do not like flashing lights.
It's your problem, not mine (or 99% of people watching)!!!

What do they do? Close their eyes?

I think they believe the flashing lights may induce a seizure in some epileptic people

yeah, be interesting to see the facts into how many people have ever had an epileptic seizure from watching a 5 second news item on the Oscars. I have never thought one way or the other about the warnings but I figure that anyone liable to be affected in that way must be in a fairly precarious state?

Had to look this up as it's common knowledge, but clearly not as common as it should be, that photosensitive epilepsy is in fact pretty rare.

Turns out to be about 3% of epilepsy sufferers, which is about 1% of the population - so about 1 in 3000 people: quite a few, in fact, although you'd have to factor the percentage of times a seizure is triggered (and it is reduced by medication, too) to work out the overall risk.

OK, not me, but I bet a lot of people were annoyed by this.

Subway, yesterday lunchtime. For those who don't go there, you get to choose just about every aspect of your sandwich and the people make it then and there while you watch. There are signs all over the shop explaining this, and telling you what the choices are. You can read them while you're queuing, in fact I defy anyone not to read them while they're queuing. Queues get boring otherwise. A thousand people have gone through the queue this morning and have all asked for w bread with x filling and y salad, maybe with z dressing, toasted or not as the spirit moves them.

I've ordered mine and am dutifully watching the guy make it at super speed without dropping stuff all over himself or losing a finger. Both of which I'd do if I made a sandwich that fast. The next customer steps up and . . .

"Do you have chicken? Is it fresh, or pre-packaged stuff? What's that over there? Can I get coleslaw with that? Is that extra? How much is the cheese? Can I get . . ."

This went on for some time. At least long enough for my sandwich to be finished, handed over and paid for before it stopped. I'm sooooo glad she was the one after me, not before

  • Some time since I posted something on this thread, but I was reminded of this, again, last night: The One Show theme tune.
You've come in, had something to eat, watched the news and the regional news. There's a couple of trailers for stuff upcoming. By now you're feeling relaxed, even a bit sleepy. There's a tiny pause, then.... OOOOONNNNE!!!! It's loud, it's jarring, it frightens the cat (and I haven't even got a cat, I mean the one from across the road). Horrible. Is it supposed to make you get up and switch the TV off or something? That's the effect it has on me, anyway.

Ice cream parlours that think the best place to list available flavours is next to the ice creams and therefore only visible to someone at the front of the queue.

Every time I hear it I think it's the jingle from the Dr Pepper advert of several years ago. Stupid brain. It's met with an automatic reach for the off button.

    That is annoying.

Websites that have pictures and banners loading, so that as you click on a link, the one you want, the page stutters down and makes you click on something random instead.

Just had a busy few days, legs are now feeling heavy and tired and todays rest day just happens to have glorious sunny clear blue skies (still). My mind wants to go out on the bike again but the legs have gone on strike.
Why cant it rain today and then be sunny for the rest of the week?

Taking the thread slightly off course - by not complaining about tourists blocking Tube escalators - but whenever I have this 'dilemma', I still go out but take it really easy. Either do the whole ride like that or warm up into a proper effort. Hey, it's better than sitting on the sofa.

Cash points that don't allow a 'cash only' option so give a receipt I have to wait for that I don't want and then a pathetic attempt at a bin that means any nosey person could pull it out and read my balance.
