Frame and Forks: 2013 De Rosa Neo Primato Steel lugged, Faema colour scheme, 54 cm
Drive train: Campagnolo Chorus 11
Brakes: Campagnolo Chorus 11
Wheels: H Plus Son Archetype, Chris King R45 Hubs, Sapim CX Ray spokes, Vittoria Open Corsa Evo SC tyres, built by Strada Hand built Wheels
Pedals: Look Keo
Saddle: Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio

I bought this bike because I wanted a lugged steel frame that I could build up myself. Weight is not an issue, I have a few carbon rides. Should be finished tomorrow!! :D:D:D

I can't see the pics for some reason.
Interested to hear what you think of the wheels. I have just had a pair built with the same spec, but my frame won't be here for a few more weeks so not had a chance to try them out yet.

    Pics sorted now.

APIII, Wheels certainly look amazing. I liked the whole service from Strada, wheels are hand built in UK, to my specs, arent off the shelf wheels and are at a decent weight. What I like about these is that the brake track is black giving off the look of a tubular wheel especially when combined with the tan wall tires. What frame are yours going on?

Looks lovely. How much did that set you back?

Lovely looking bike. I decided on the polished rims as they are going on a 953 frame with lots of bare/polished metal, but the all black does look very tasty. I got mine from Just Riding Along

Thats lovely. I want to stroke it.
  • lc1981, it has cost around £3250.

    Frame and forks £1080
    Wheels and tyres £940
    All other components £1230.

Beatmaker, you can stroke the picture of her if you want!!
  • Stunning! love it.
  • Looks great. It's a shame lugged steel frames cost so much. Shouldn't be that much considering that frame's not changed since I had one back in 1994.

What's the weight of the wheels sans rim tapes and skewers?

I think I'll have to stick to stroking the picture too, until I've saved up...

Still takes a while to build them I suppose. The bike looks lovely!

Absolutely stunning. Great choice on the wheel spec. Quite fancy those rims myself.

Only minor complaint are the strada stickers!

You can get them sticker free from Wheelsmith. Look for the Race 23.

  • The bike is pretty much finished now, just need to test ride in better weather and trim down the cables.

  • Love that! Perfect.
  • She sure is purdy. Makes a nice change from the more obvious choice of a Colnago Master.

  • i've got a 2007 neo primato faema. haven't been able to find a touch up paint that matches well. anyone got any ideas how to find one? i wrote to de rosa but it's a custom paint, so they don't have color codes.

Caveat - I buy and ride cheap, however, I reserve the right to advise on expensive kit that I have never actually used and possibly never will
  • What a beauty! Would love to hear back on how the anodising on the rim brake track holds up in the future.
