Picked this up tonight for £400 off a mate, quite fancied a CX for cutting about the park with the lad - he's 4 so need a skinny tyre off road bike to keep up!

Seems to have been fully upgraded dura ace shifters, front mech, TRP brakes fizik saddle etc etc

Looking forward to a blast in the woods tomorrow :)

    Bargain at £400
1998 Kona Cindercone in singlespeed commute spec
    2013 Cannondale Caadx 1x10
    2004 Giant TCR
  • Killer deal, i love it. I never rode cross but had a Specialized S works cross bike for training in the UK, it was so nice to ride i rode it more than any of my others. Superb for crappy winter roads and comfy too. Regret selling it but we dont have winters in Dubai!

Enjoy it, it looks the nuts.

Absolute bargain for £400 ! Thought i got a good deal picking up a planet x uncle john for £300 !
  • Cheers! Yea when he told me how much he was after....straight to the bank, never rode cross myself and seemed too good a chance of trying it to pass up :)
  • Wish I had mates like that. Looks great.
  • just been out for an hour before work, jesus christ the gearing is tough in the wet mud, found the tyres to cut into the softer stuff and slow you right down, then with low road-ish gearing its hard to get it moving again....just what i need, some brutal tough winter training lol

on hard pack its like a rocket....I think anyone on a mtb would have a hard time staying with you...on the decesnts they might with the benefit of discs.....the brakes on CX are pish lol good for technique i suppose

nice change to laps of the town on the road bike, great fun....and didnt seem to notice how hard an effort it was, hit 1bpm below maxHR a few times and really didnt give it much thought.....on the road id be screaming....suppose its the fun factor that makes you not notice so much!

Its nice that. What gearing are you running? I've just built a cross bike up and I'm running 50/34 with a 11-25 out back. It was a slog through the mud on Sunday!
  • 38/46 and a 11-28...so easier than yours lol!!

50/34 must be savage in the big ring....(heehee)

Brilliant deal, will be down to lBS for something similar when the insurance pay out eventually arrives for my Bianchi which was wiped out by a Tractor and trailer. Seems there are good options for making use of a CX bike around our area though need to do a wee bit more research on routes.

God I want a cross bike so much

I've been watching this: http://www.behindthebarriers.com/ with Jeremy Powers the US cross champ and it just looks so much fun!

with regard to the mud I think its all about getting the right tyre pressure - which often means running tubulars or tubeless to get low enough and not get pinch flats.
  • great fun!

was out again on tuesday, tore my rear mech off fixed it then tore it off again...got a new 105 mech fired on and some new swisstop pads...back out on wednesday morning for a few hours....where my mate who races cross tore the legs off me....mega fun though! doesnt feel like a workout even tho i was biting the bars the whole time....

21miles off road 11.6mph average...lol thats fast for me off road!
