Im looking to cycle Ventoux (Bedoin or Carpentras) and Alpe d'huez either a day before or on the day of the tour.
Is this easily done and are there plenty of rental bikes available? I was thinking perhaps the evening before the race but will the bike rental shops be closed?

Not sure about the day before the tdf, but loads of tour operators on interwebs, for other dates.Superstition sets the whole world in flames; philosophy quenches them.

With this being the 100th Tour and the first time Ventoux has been featured since 2009 things could go very Zoncolan i.e. hundreds of thousands turn up for the stage. Chances are hiring a bike will be pretty hard and an ascent the day before or after will be full of camper vans and cars. I think Alpe d’Huez will be off the charts for spectators too.
If it was me I’d take my own bike.0 -
Unfortunately I wont be able to take my own bike as we will be renting a car out in France, perhaps if i book soon It will be possible to rent a bike? It would be a shame to be in the area and not give them a go0
