It was the 105 groupset that caught my eye but they must be cutting corners somewhere to be able to sell a 105 spec for £500 when you couldn't even by the groupset alone for that. The lack of positive reviews is worrying to. I thought I'd ask just in case I'd found the bargain of the century...
2300 is Shimano entry level but works perfectly well. Shimano goes 2300, Sora, Tiagra, 105, Ultegra, Dura Ace.
The only limiting factor I see from the specs is they say its 8 speed, which again works perfectly well and is indeed less prone to breakage (as the more speeds the thinner the components) but limits your choice of spare parts providers.
I run 9 speed and prefer it to the newer 10 and 11 speed stuff but spares tend to be full price as people do not tend to sell older speed stuff at cut down rates.
I have the option to purchase second hand of both bikes and I am wondering which one is best they are both around the same price, any help would be much appreciated

At the rrp of £1000 there are certainly plenty of better options.
At the discounted £500 it gets a little harder but still better options IMO.
Would you pick the Viking over these due to the obvious better gearing?
Either of those two would be a fine start.
If you need different gearing (after you have tried it for a few weeks) its simple to get diferent cassettes or even front chainrings.
The Giant has a compact (50/34) and an 11/28 cassette - that should cover everything you could ever want....at least for a couple of years
Have you had much experience using the 2300's?
