Ok,

I've decided to get a set of Schwalbe Big Apples for the commute on my mtb.

Some questions.

Which width? 2.0, 2.15 or 2.35???? Are there any clearance issues on the 2.35's (on a hardtail Stumpjumper)

Which tubes?

Will they go on my stock DT Swiss rims?

Thank you.

  • I'd go smaller for commuting if you're mostly on road.
  • The document "Technical Information" at http://www.schwalbe.co.uk/downloads/ has a table showing what size tyres should fit on what size rims etc,.

The 2.35 are absolutely massive and will not fit in many standard MTB frames. It just about fit in my inbred OK but wouldn't go up front on the sus forks. It also wouldn't fit my Kinesis which has at least average clearances. Go for one of the other sizes. I've had the '2' and its fine - plenty of air & pretty fast!
