I have currently got a triple ring set up on my Carrera Fury and I am not using the smallest and biggest chainrings at all, I would just like to know the advantages of having a single chainring?

A small weight saving and fewer gears.
You'll still need a chainguide or front mech. So mainly fewer gears.
    IMO that's a disadvantage.

    Greater ground clearance.

But that's clutching at straws. The big deal is that it's cooler!

Does save a fair bit of weight. Simpler/cheaper too.

Going from a triple to just one chainring with a chainguide and no bash will save you about 300-350g (depending on chainguide) you will need to also consider wither having a bash or getting smaller single ring bolts.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
