Colour of front lights?

I note that fibre flare lights come in various colours for the rear and side versions but only in white for the front .

The highway code says you have to have a white front light and a red rear light and I understand you're not supposed to have red at the front.

I have recently ridden with a green light at the front - is that naughty?

You must have AT LEAST a white one at the front and a red one at the back.

If you choose to have more, that's fine, however I would point out that the idea of lights is not to look pretty, it's to ensure other road users see you. I suppose there is an argument that if you are lit up in an unusual way, cars will sit at the junction trying to work out what you are, but frankly I'd rather not try it.

  • my theory is just don't give the simpletons anything elso to worry about- anything other than white at the front and red at the back and they might just drive into you trying to work out what you are.

briefly considered a blue fibre flare to add to the back recently- decided against it for the above reasons
  • Just get yourself some Monkey lights then you can do all the colours.

As a matter of "to be sure" I would avoid red/blue/green front lighting.
