Cycle computer rubber bands

Does anyone know where to buy the thick rubber bands used for attaching cycle computers and the fork mounted device? I need one 6cm & can't find any, cycle shop recommended plastic ties, but I'm not sure they will work

    Stationery shop? Cut up and old inner tube?

    I was after some myself for a Sigma computer and the LBS directed me to the bathroom shop across the road for some o-rings.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Plastic zip ties for me. Fitted to my last two bikes and those of my son without issue. Rubber will perish eventually won't it?
