Its not a bad bike, in fact its one of Halfrauds better offerings, Several colleagues at work swear by theirs, I wouldnt pay £399 for one though. Its the ideal cheap commuter hybrid, no suspension and does what it says on the box goes from a to b reliably. Only issue with Halfrauds is their build up service, as reported on here its hit and miss dependant on branch. Some good some pathetic.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.

Halfords pricing is very dodgy, they put the price up to some ridiculous level for a week then they can sell it at the normal price and claim some massive reduction, just within the law and no more. I bought one bike from them and it was a disaster, in the end I took a night to completely strip the thing and reassemble it, the build quality was shocking.

To be fair the bike is BUILT by Merida who make millions of bikes a year including low to mid end Specialised, while you can Blame halfords for the PDI work (bars and stem, wheels, pedals and checking gear setup), the build is down to Merida.

The PDI can I agree be hit amd miss, try and talk to whoever is 'selling' you the bike, guage their knowledge and experience and try and get them to commit to doing your PDI, ride it before you leave up and down through the gears, if it's not right, don't leave the store!

At £279 its a good buy, at £400 it's never worth it!

Both my current bikes are carrera and other than the setup are and have provided 4000 miles of trouble free riding, both were 265 quid (Carrera vulcan, carrera TDF). Did my own "setup" once I was home.

    So 279..buy it.
