is it me or have cannondale downspecced some of these bikes in the 2013 version
the Sram Red one 2012 had Kysrium Elite and full FSA carbon seatposts and stems and handle bar
the Sram Red 2013 Kysrium Equip and C1 alloy stem/seatpost & C2 handle bars...but same price as the 2012 version.
they just skimmed another 200 quid from those 3 items isn't it?
the dura ace spec oen has more or less stayed the same...but 2012 is some £1000 cheaper

Also happening to the boardman bikes. due to cost of production getting more expensive. they have to tighten their belt one way or another.0

the chinese labour has gone from £1/hour to £1.50/hour...i think it's the corporate greed maybe?Road - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg

I didn't notice prices dropping when they moved production to China from the USA. I suspect they are doing quite nicely in terms of profit margin thank you very much.0

Shipping costs have sky rocketed,
Cost of materials have increased,
Costs of loaning money have increased,
Cost of labour have increased,
I'm sure they are still making profit and we should be glad about it, if that wasn't the case we wouldn't be able to buy their great bikes
They do seem more expensive compared to some brands, it's really down to you to decide if the bike is worth it.One plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0 -
Regarding more expensive compared to other brands I not entirely convinced they are but don't forget that the cost of R&D that companies invest into making new products has to be recouped too, not just the build/ship cost of each bike.Yellow is the new Black.0

Agreed, but if you compare my bike the SS ultegra to a Cube ultegra for example then the Dale might look overpriced but as iv said that's a perceived opinion, not one that I hold as I place more value in other things, however as you'll see in one of my other threads some people see the better value elsewhere,
Take my two bikes for example they are both 2013 both have full ultegra (apart from the crank on the SS) and there's £900 differance retail.
Iv not actually received my SS yet so can't properly compare but from the test rides iv had there is a big differance. However if one is stood in a lbs with both bikes on display and purely looks at componentary the Trek would look the best value. One plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0 -
Nothing wrong with making a profit - that's why businesses exist. I don't think anyone suggested they shouldn't. Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder0

Try getting business loans in the real world, interest rates may be low but banks aren't very keen to lend so actually securing a loan esp for business is costly, all looks good on paper but financing a business is difficult nowadaysOne plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling0 -
@ Joeblack
OK, I get your point. Sorry for my slightly harsh sounding post previously.0 -
i don't know about this inflation business is entirely true. These people have been making CF for a while now and their production line should be very cost efficient.
the only i can see going up is the labour cost and the import costs...but still that shouldn't skim back on the equipment for so much. Anyway probably corporate greed and share holder pressure.Road - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg

And don't forget ongoing R&D costs, without which the products will stagnate and fall behind the times.
If you don't like the price, don't buy it - simples.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

they are using the ballistic carbon, but they have had that for a while as well, no? i don't know...canyon and cannondale had bikes that's nice and light (6.3kg) with SRAM red and very nice carbon seat and handle bars etc for about 3500 now cannondale has generally crap...which will need at least another £600-800 to bring upto the same spec as canyon...very disappointed about thatRoad - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg
