Trail/Tarmac Tyre?

Hi

Got a Decathlon 8.1 and loving it. Not so enamoured with the tyres (Michelin Country Trail) that came with it though as they seem v slippy on wet surfaces (have very nasty haematoma on right hip to prove it).

We mostly do trails but with a bit of road. More or less no serious mud.

Anyone recommend a tyre for this bike that won't slip about so much on wet surfaces?

TIA

Adri

  • How much tarmac? You may be better off with semi slicks if the trails aren't slippy and you spend a fair bit of time on the road.
Specialized Crossroads semi-slicks are pretty chunky (pretty heavy too though).

  • For something of good quality that will roll fast on the road and give a decent grip offroad and on i think this is a pretty good deal http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k371/a ... tubes.html. Light, with a good compound.

I roughly use my MTB 50/50 on trails and road and find Panaracer Fire XC Pro's a good choice. I run them at 35 psi on the trail and pump them up to 55 psi on the road. Great all round tyre.
