So very annoying my rather new, only recently done up Giant Trance X2 got stolen a couple of weeks back! Insurance have said they'll pay up £850 which is ok I guess, but means to get an adequate replacement I'm going to have to go used.
So i'm starting to look at what I can get to replace it. I only ever got a few rides on the Trance sadly so never really got to sus out its full potential and capabilities but If anything I would probably go for a more capable 140/150mm bike, as the majority of my riding is done at Aston Hill in the chilterns and it would be great to be able to hit some of the downhill runs! My immediate thought was a Trek Remedy as I rode one round Coed Y brenin in the summer and was very impressed! But even a used 7 is probably outside of budget sadly.
So looking for any advice, suggestions, things to look for etc.

most insurance places pay out in some sort of vouchers, (halfords) so befor you start looking at second hand ask how they intend to pay the £850 !0

We were told they were going to send a cheque, so here's hoping that will be the case.0

specialized pitch is a good bike and can get the 2011 pro model for that price0

I'd go with another Trance to be honest. Or maybe a Heckler.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

my size large 2010 fsr xc pro could be parted with for £700 as in pics except for dtswiss 445d wheels on instead of the ones in the pic http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=12858798&p=17708411#p177084110

Yeah that'd work - the Manitou rear shocks a bit cr*p but you have a spare bit of cash to upgrade some bit.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

Job done!
Very capable bike for the cash, and pretty good review from Bikeradar.Trek Remedy8 2013 viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=128994610 -
Get another Trance, they are just as capable as a Remedy or Heckler. I gave my Trance a heap of abuse and it took it no problems, geometry is great, it's nice & stable and pedals extremely wellTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
