Mavic XM317 - much of an upgrade?

I have a 2011 Trance X3 with Giant SXC-2 rims and Giant front / Shimano rear hubs. They came with the Trance.
Im after a new wheelset, no particular reason other than for a bit of brand name bling and looks and I have the spare cash.
Would a Mavic XM317 wheelset with Deore rear / unbranded front hubs actually be an upgrade?
I ride red route trail centres, cross country, and occasionally the peaks. I weigh 85 kg's.
I had Mavic Crossride Discs on my Kona Hei Hei 100 and they used to require regular attention and re tensioning. Are the XM317's a better rim?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

No. Re tension has little to do with the rim and more the build.0

I have xm317's on my banshee, it's a heavy bike that has taken a bucket load of abuse over the years and they are still completely true. I wouldn't consider them remotely blingtastic though0

Not an upgrade, just different.0

I was told (by someone likely to know) that the Crossride uses the 317 rim...... My Crossrides have never needed retruing, in fact a spoke came loose and the rim was still true!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Just to verify, the Crossrides do use a 317 rim. Mine are doing just fine too0
