Successfully been using Michelin Krylions for a number of years now but having just been looking to get a replacement set, they no longer seem to be available.

Are there any other Krylion fans out there and if so what have you turned to and how did they compare?

  • Pro 4 endurance are the direct and, better IMO, replacement

Pro 4 endurance, basically latest version of Krylion, absolute bugger to put on.
  • Yep, though krylions suffered from that somewhat. Front can be done with hands, just about

As per the other Krylion thread...

They have them for £24.99 at Decathlon, after previously having used Krylions I have happily moved over to conti 4 seasons.
  • Have you tried Parker International online? I bought a pair of Carbon Krylions from them earlier this year and remember seeing them in stock recently.

    +1

very good tyre but costly and unlike Krylions in past hard to find discounted at half price :(

Did you really rate them that highly ?

A good puncture resistant tyre granted - but loads of downside

    A bugger to fit

    Slow

    Heavy

Expensive - for a low performance tyre

Very little if any better, than rubinos which cost around 50% less

Most importantly...an absolute Tw@t to get off when you do get a puncture when its 1c and you're standing by the road freezing our arse off when it starts to rain...causing you to get into a blind swearing fury that would make your great gran turn in her grave whilst stabbing the tyre to death trying to get the f***ing lip under the tyre wall....not talking from experience or anything

Ribble have an extra 10% off tyres until tomorrow, so picked up another pair of conti gp4000s for 48 quid. I think the gatorskins are a couple of quid cheaper if you want more robust sidewalls

I had some Krylion Carbons. Last ages & not a single puncture! I replaced them with a pair of Pro 4 service course. So far. so good.
  • FWIW, I found that the new Pro4 Enduros. went on very easily (more so than the Krylions). Haven't had to remove one, yet, though, (touch wood).

My experience too - the new ones are much easier than getting krylions on

Many thanks for all the input - reckon I will go for the Pro4 Enduros or Pro4 Service.

Incidentally I never had too much trouble getting the Krylions on or off.

i've never had a problem removing or fitting the tyres before? and best tyre i've found for long distances /p***ture protection (touching all the wood around me) (before anyone else says it, that's what she said!)

got my last set on now and some new Pro4 enduro's waiting for when the time comes!

I never had any issue with krylions - brilliant tyres. I can't comment on the PR4s. Re Contis - I think the more expensive ones like the 4 seasons are v. good but I really don't like the Gator Skins - too slippery in the wet.

Just bought some pro4 endurances, will report back when I have ridden them a bit, replacing krylions that have reached the end of their life and are p'ing a bit too much now

They feel fine, I would say slightly more grip as they seemed to give me more confidence to push the front into one corner this morning more than before. went down to 23c's as the 25c's are still way too much and I didn't notice that much change in ride quality.
