  • You can't deny it's big news. To see or read about it within the cycling press seems right to me, but for the main stream media to dribble-feed useless & half researched tit bits to us is getting tiring.

A few weeks ago in the news, USADA stripped him of his 7 tour titles & then yesterday the UCI stripped him of his 7 tour victories. To your average joe this is just repeated info.

Yes lets start talking about Greg Lemond instead. Is it really true that he is now the only US American ever to have worn the yellow jersey ?
Would welcome company for Sat rides west/south of Edinburgh, up to 3 hrs, 16mph ish. Please PM me if interested/able to help.

Tbh it's amazed me how many have jumped on the "I can't wear/use anything associated with him" bandwagon, and that's got very boring very quickly, I understand the discussion on him though as of course it's big news.
One plays football, tennis or golf, one does not play at cycling

If you want to see how obsessed and fanatical some have become in wanting to "hear" every detail pop over the the Pro Race forums where you'll find a plethora of socially and emotionally retarded perspectives gathered together continuing to express their faux outrage at every little detail and getting angry at anyone who doesn't subscribe to their single and simple minded group think.

Start a big internet campaign to get him to admit it, he needs to acknowledge what he did and apologize, for his sake and for cycling.

For those that have been following the sport since before 1999, we had to endure years and years of having Armstrong stuffed-down our throats by the fawning cycling press and hoards of plastic bangle-wearing acolytes who would abuse and bully anyone who dared question his impeachability.

While I am fed up of the level of coverage, it's inevitable.

What I am absolutely sick of though is the sanctimonious bilge poured out by people who know almost nothing about cycling and care even less. "Aren't you shocked. Who knew?" the media repeatedly crow. Well the answer to those questions is "not at all" and "everyone".

This is not cycling's finest hour, let's be honest, but the sport will continue to flourish regardless of incidents like this.
