Yup, it's called the cupboard ...
  • No. Needs root and branch reform from the top down. Those in power at the time of mass doping need to all go to draw a line under this once and for all. Then cycling as a professional sport might gain some credibility. I also believe any cyclist who has been caught doping or has admitted it should be sacked.

    New beginnings.
  • I think clearly McQuaid should jump. In any other walk of life, politics, business etc... Someone in his position would be long gone. Cycling can't move on until you have a credible UCI, or perhaps it should be run by a newly formed organisation even. Maybe a consortium of the teams and main race organisers? since most of the teams income come from sponsors, and those sponsors nowadays have a zero tolerance policy towards doping, they would have more incentive to police the sport properly. maybe...

With respect to the riders et al, I dont think banning people for life will help, but its time for everyone to fess up so the sport can move on. Some 6m to 2 year bans for those still riding who have doped would seem appropriate. Not sure what you do in terms of team managers- anyone responsable for implementing/running an organised doping program, directeur sporting or doctor/soigneurs, I dont think they can credibly hold a position of responsability in cycling anymore.

It was interesting to see David Millar touting himself as the next UCI president. While there is some merit in having a poacher turned gamekeeper, I would prefer a complete clean sweep.

It's time for a new broom and for the sport to put all this behind it.

I think legitimizing nazi South Africa is more disgusting than doping. If black cyclists want help from him now I wonder how he regards them since he betrayed black South Africans in the past.

We need an organization that doesn't retard the evolution of cycling with rubbish like, these socks are too aerodynamic so they are banned, these handlebars are 5mm from how we want them so they are banned, anything that's too good is banned.
