Convert Hybrid to CX/Winter hack

As the dark wet mornings roll in I am reluctant to use my sunday best....
so, I have been thinking of trying to convert my 2010 Boardman Hybrid team into either a decent CX bike/winter hack
The only sticking point is the brakes. They are avid juicy hydraulics, anyone have any ideas of how I could get drops on it?

You will also want to fit a shorter stem to avoid being over stretched when on the lever hoods.
