Hi Guys

I am looking for a new bottom bracket for my road bike, I have been looking at the Hope ones. as they are fully servicable unlike shimano ones, and doing my research I will most likely need a new shimano one every few thousand miles as they don't seem to last to long. especially as I will be using my bike all winter

does anybody have experience of the Hope BB's

Cheers
Loz

I'm assuming you are not talking about pressfit bb's

Don't want to stray OT but I have ridden a 105 BB through 2 winters and done well over 5k miles without any issue. A Hope BB is going to cost 3 or 4 times the price initially and from what i can see the cost of replacement bearings is comparable to a replacement Shimano BB

When I do have to replace it...I will probably go for the best deal I can get on a tiagra or 105 part. In my opinion they are cheap to the point that it is barely worth servicing them.

  • Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply, I may well just go for the cheaper option of a 105 as you say the cost of replacement bearings are the same price as the complete unit.

i had one many years ago. 103mm square taper titanium spindle aluminum cups ceramic bearings. cost about five times more than the old one ,lasted nine months then went in the bin.
constantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly
