So currently servicing hubs but currently unable to undo the rear hub nut.

in the picture you can see it once dust cover removed, non drive side.

I tried using a 17mm ring spanner but it doesnt fit, tried also a 19mm as well but doesnt fit.

is it 18mm? or am i using the wrong tools (even though going by the web, these are rim wheels so maybe older model different.)

What is the hub? You need two spanners, a cone spanner to hold the bearing cone, and one for the locknut. They can vary.

Get a set of cone spanners as supersonic says and watch this:................................

but take the disc rotor off first.

  • As I said in my post and as you can see in picture, I have tried the correct method.(using 15mm cone spanner holding, using 17mm to undo) But I'm unable to get the lock nut off as the 17mm spanner as suggested doesn't fit.

So I'm asking does this hub version use a different size spanner or a different tool?

If not seems ill have to use a molewrench :-\

how does it not fit? not big enough or too wide? How did the 19mm not fit?

not known a Shimano hub use bigger than a 17mm cone spanner.

m752 front or rear? Rear i think.

Molewrench seems a little drastic. You tried an adjustable spanner? Still can't get why the normal range of cone spanners don't fit. Does the hub have any markings?

FFS Cone spanners are the onky spanners that are thin enough to fit in the slots.

I can get a normal 17mm spanner on the end nuts of my M525's. I assumed all Shimano outer axle nuts were the same. No?

He'll be talking about the cone nuts. The lock nuts a normal 17mm spanner will usually do the trick. Failing that an adjustable spanner will do it.

it depends which way round the last lock washer is.
