Antarctica - A Photo Essay

Antarctica is one of my favourite places on earth. As a magazine writer and photographer I have had the good fortune to travel down there a lot in the past, generally on assignments for Time and National Geographic. This morning when I was sorting through some old files I came upon a series of landscape photos I took along the Antarctic peninsula and South Georgia Island a few years ago; I'd forgotten all about them. And although my website is ostensibly about cycling, I've posted a selection of my favourites.

If you would like to see them they are here:

One of the nice things about Antarctica is that the prettiest places are also the most accessible. I have been all over the continent and I can honestly say that the Antarctic Peninsula is the most spectacular part - a mix of the best of everything Antarctic has to offer, both scenery and wildlife, mountains and icebergs, the lot. And i is the part you can most easily reach, by tour boats and cruises out of Ushuaia, Argentina (in Tierra del Fuego). Go if yo ever get the chance. You'll never regret it.
  • Amazing pics. I'll revisit them often and show my friends.
