Hi guys
I'm watching this frame on eBay and am considering bidding if I can get it for the right price and was wondering if anyone with a bit more knowledge than me could explain what the issues mentioned in the description would mean in layman's terms?
Link as follows:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230865571356? ... 1438.l2649
It'll be stripped, powder coated and rebadged so wondering what price would represent a bargain.
Many thanks
Lee

sounds like the bottom bracket threads are shagged..
I think a saint BB has longer threads, but 1cm is fairly deep. No idea if you have get the threads in the frame re done...0 -
In my opinion I would look for something else. Like Northern Monkey said, 1cm is deep in thread terms and it is not an 'easy fix' as he suggests unless you happen to have a BB Tap lying around at home.
Have a look on PinkBike , you can usually find something on there that is a little more recent and you won't have to have a bidding war with other people.0 -
Rethreading the BB will only cost about £10, the trouble is as the material has 'gone' that won't help, it would need to have material added first.
You can get threadless square taper BB which need no thread in the BB at all, if you don't mind running a square taper, not sure if you can get an Octalink/ISIS equivalent, but I don't think so. They do Shimano threadless for Roadies as external, don't think they do them for MTB.

If you want a quality single pivot frame with top notch bearings, I'd go for this:
