Hopefully this will be a really quick one. The rim tape on my new Superstar build is rubbish, it stops the tyre bead fitting properly as it moves around so much. Is this yellow stuff better from Merlin, or is there something else I should be looking for?

I'd have thought rim tape is rim tape, but Superstar have shown you can get it wrong (the wheels are ace, by the way).

Electrical tape, 2 layers, cut a cross at valve hole and push the valve through, doesn't move, nice and slippy to let the tyres move as required, cheap as chips.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Yes - the Superstar rim tape is pants. I bought some Syncros tape from CRC for £1 a wheel.

I prefer the more upmarket duct myself :)

Cheers for the tip, it worked well. The tyres are still difficult to get seated correctly (Fat Alberts on Stan's Flow), it wasn't just the rim tape that was the hassle, but after a bit of faff all is well now.
