shoulder brace/support

so i got knocked off my bike a few weeks ago when somebody opened the door of their car and caught my handle bars which sent me flying across the road i landed on my shoulder

I was quite lucky in the sense i didnt brake it, after about 2 weeks ive got almost full movement back in my shoulder so much that i can hold my bars with out it giving me to much grief,

I was wondering if i was to use a shoulder brace it would take enough of the pressure of my shoulder so that i can start riding again well that is when my new shifters arrive any way
