Centre locking disc question.

I have just tried to fit my new centre locking brake discs to my new wheels. No problems with the rear wheel but i have run into trouble with the front.

The tool will not go over the hub end so the tool will not engage with the locking ring. I guess i need a new locking ring with the splines on the outside. Can anyone confirm this?

Also where the hub would meet the inside of the fork the old wheels were ribbed to aid grip but the new wheels are not is this a problem or is just that some are and some are not?

what hubs? what make of tool?

the external is normally for 15 and 20mm hubs.

    try a different tool.

    does not matter.

Thanks for the reply. I guess i need a 15mm locking ring.

The tool is a superstars one i got off ebay. It has worked for the cassette and the rear disc rotor but i didn't know until now that the front hub is 15mm (I've just measured it) Grrrrr

Good to know about the front hub being non grooved is OK. this bike is making me paranoid!

Seems like DT swiss and shimano are the only makers of this locking ring.

    £13! Bloody hell :(
