Running two lights.

Started going out at night and have a LED Lenser T7 torch mounted on the bars but it is not giving out great light, either too wide of a beam with no depth or too narrow with depth so i`m going to get a decent light. Am I better fitting the stronger light to the bars or helmet?

Whatever works best for you really, have to experiment. No right or wrong! Though I would say that many seem to prefer a flood on the bars, and a spot on the helmet.0

I tend to run my big light on the bars and my small one on my head.0

One on the bars aiming almost horizontal and one on your lid aimed just above eye level. Or better yet two on the bars and another on the helmet.
I cant do without one on my head now, whenever you turn the bars it's total darkness and it freaks me out.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

I run 2 DX torches on the bars and a magic shine on my helmet, loads of light for about £80 :-)0

6300 lumens!
Wow that is a lot of light! Is that tech Lm, real Lm or China Lm? My cars main beam is only 2000Lm tech and actual light output is even less. Yet I have two 1800Lm (3600lm total) lights from China that give out no where close to my cars lights0 -
its completely made up lumens,
1 x 3600 (3 led jobby)
1 x 1800 (3 separate lense jobby that looks like mickey mouse)
1 x 900 (Magicshine)0 -

nope, just not scared easily like the rest of you big girls :P
the larger of the two gives quite a bit of flood, so ive never found it to be a problem0 -
Two bar lights and two head lights here
Takes a while to get 'wired up' but well worth the effort0 -

I prefer a spot on the bars and a flood on the helmet as hwne going 'straight ahead' the bar spot works well, in tighter corners (so slower) the flood on the helmet works better FOR ME, I know others do it the other way round!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

When you bring a light to eye level, it makes it very hard to perceive depth, since the shadows will be directly behind each object you see - the further the light is from the eyes, the better the sense of depth, so for that reason, I'd use the bar light as your main, and the head torch just to help see round corners and such.0 -

How are you getting on with the 3600 jobbie? Tempted to get one of these and just use that.
Do you have 3 separate battery packs for all 3 lights?0 -
3 separate batteries, weighs more but if your out for a long time you need it.
its very good, but i would say you still need a minimum of 2 lights.
If you look back a few pages in the main lights thread i put some pictures up of the spread etc.0 -

I'm quite inclined to get 1 or 2 of these. One for the bars for def, not sure whether to get another for my helmet or go with a torch for up there as more of a spot?! Hmmmmm0 -
