Hi guys, the rest of us didn't realise how lucky you all are! I guess you never have any problems with those lovely police people. Whatever you say it must be true - they can't differentiate between a blind pensioner and a samurai sword wielding thug. No chance whatsoever of spotting any traffic violations whatsoever then.
Is it me or is this bloody insane, were they so stupid? surely nobody could be? or was it some gung-ho dickhead with a new toy, desperate to show off to his 'mates'
This sort of thing does a disproportionate amount of damage to their reputation - a lot of their natural supporters, probably like the sort of guy they shot, must seriously question their judgement in other situations. Do they ever wonder why they seem to be losing public respect???

The Police do a difficult job in difficult circumstances. Why take chances? I'm surprised they got out of the car and didn't just run him over. Even if it went to inquest with video evidence and a transcript of the Police Officer saying he did it because he doesn't like the over 60s there wouldn't be any charges.

    ....on the other hand....

People make mistakes, especially when under pressure. And as we don't have the full facts it's difficult to make anything other than a kneejerk reaction to media reports of what happened. On the face of it it looks terrible, but I bet there's more to the story than has been reported. Maybe the Police Officer was also blind and deaf. Have you thoughtof that?

Must be an opportunity for Specsavers.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.
  • The thought had occurred to me that they were blind and deaf as well as stupid. As the range of a Taser is between 5m and 10m max they wouldn't have been allowed to run him over 'cos they probably would have failed the drivers sight test!!!

Exactly...I was wondering that as well !!
  • 'cos it happened in Lancashire! thought it would be interesting, if not, scary. Whatever? where else would I post it? thought cake stop was for odds and sods, no less relevant than dishwashers or slow cookers!
  • I wonder if my pump when extended looks like a sword?

  • Dangerous weapons, pumps!

Half the reason for posting is that I've got a pair of crutches on the back of my mike, so, slow and dangerous?

Best avoid having a frame-fit pump just in case it gets mistaken for a shotgun with a folding stock or something else similar.

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

If you've ever been through Chorley you'd understand why this can happen.

I love people fly off the handle with these things. Where are the details of what happens?

You don't get tazered if you are asked to put down what you are carrying, and you comply. More likely is the guy wanted to prove a point against the police (ie. took offence or wanted to show up the mistake), and got himself tazered to do it. You don't call peoples bluff if you can't read the situation with enough certainty.

There are countless examples of people getting a kicking, or in trouble for incorrectly standing their ground on the most petty of issues because they thought they knew their rights.
All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

I heard a radio interview with the guy, he's an old blind man ffs, he heard shouting but didn't know who was saying it and who it was aimed because guess what? he couldn't fuck1ng see!!! The incident terrified him. He is not an attention seeker and I wonder if you are trolling with such nonsense.

I can see your point, but imagine you are an old blind man walking down the road as someone starts shouting something along the lines of "Drop the sword and get down on the floor!" - would you think they were talking to you?
  • Same as the Police never act aggressively.

See below how a professional policeman in mortal danger to himself and colleges gallantly defends himself again an aggressive photographer.

Or did the Policeman pumped up on adrenalin and red mist tazer the first person he saw with little care if it was the correct person. Whilst looking for a 27 yr old male tazered a 60 yr old pensioner during daylight hours?
