Tyres.... Help!

Hi
I am no expert - just a commuter (that let's me off sounding stupid!) I have a question around tyres.
I use my Scott S50 Speedster to commute to work every day - around 10 miles all-in. Some of my commute is along tree lined roads with lots of wet leaves and pine needles and a good 4 miles is along the beach promenade ( I like this route as you aren't likely to get knocked off by an impatient car). Currently and when the weather has been bad, sand is blowing onto the prom and then it rains giving me a nice deep sludgy sand to contend with most of the way. At the moment, I am just unclipping in readiness and trying my best to get through, but most days, its like motocross.... I am basically wobbling all over the place and sideways as the current racing tyres really don't like this sand (understandably).
So my question is - for wet leaves/pine needles & wet sand, would the switch over to cyclo-cross tyres help? They seem pretty cheap to buy, but wanted to check whether you guys thought this would be a good idea?
Thanks in advance!

If you are currently running Continental Ultra Sport, 700x23C then you could try:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=30218
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=59586
which come in a 28c. you might just be able to get away with one on the front, since its really the front you want control of. Cyclocross tyres might not fit your wheels and clearances. a 700x28c should squeeze on.0 -
Ahhh... OK, thanks that's brilliant!! I will have a look into this. Good point about only changing the front - you have saved me some cash!! Cheers!Scott
