No need to shout, and what bike?

But I think it's been posted before, and if so he's on drugs.

It might worth that if you paid RRP for all the bits on it. Nobody pays RRP on stuff even when brand new, so that figure is totally irrelevant.

Also, don't type in capitals. Its pretty annoying.

The all caps is copied and pasted from the ebay add.
Be worth it if you can get it for £500.

Pointless exercise and a strange match of components.

If you could get it cheap enough, sell the rear wheel on to someone with a Hybrid and fit a normal one and it would be an OK bike, probably worth about £400-500.

Given the weather over there I don't know why you guys don't run a Hammerschmidt crank driving an 8/9 speed internally geared hub with a belt drive. That way it wouldn't matter how much it rained your gears would still be smoooooth.

    Seriously?

Because I'm a) not going to run a bike with elevated chainstays or 2) not riding a bike with segmented chainstay/seatstays and 3) the weather 'over here' doesn't cause either my 2x10 or my 3x9 systems any trouble. In fact terrain conditions 'over here' can cause all manner of grief for belts.

FFS ask them to put you back on medication. And think a bit.

I'm not sure if he's a nutjob or just trolling.

I'm startin' to suspect the latter.

We've heard of belt drive. Just a really stupid idea off road. Mud, grit water etc is not a good mix with belts.

Scroll down a bit. This ones chain drive but you could just as easily do belt drive by putting the belt on by undoing the seat stay pivot.

      Likewise, I concur.

Unless you have one hell of a tensioner (of which belt drive ones are very hard to come by) there are very few FS bike you can run a belt drive on, and very few hardtail frames you can convert, so it's a bit of a moot point really.

Hammerschmidt is a dreadful idea for the reasons mentioned previously, that and they feel awful.

Can't say I have any drivetrain issues that make me want to change to a belt/internal/hub drive system. Solves non-existent problems whilst introducing a host of new ones.

They all have their place, just not on your average MTB!

the problem is they all cost a LOT more* for what little benefit you get than using conventional components.

*Exception being hub geared which is not that much more expensive and I would perhaps consider for a commuter.
