Hi,
Awhile ago some people on the forum helped me with identifying XTR gear cable - just wondered if I could call on everyone again now for some help identifying XTR brake cable.... as again no 'XTR' on the pack nor 'SP41' which I now know for gear cable so what's the deal with the brake side of things?
thanks
dan

any stainless outers. XTR branded will not be long enough as it will be for V brake only and cut to size."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Have got XTR brake cables on the Proflex. They're grey and have XTR logos on them:
Having said that they're prob at least 8 years old unlikely that there will be any new ones knocking around.0 -

outer lengths are 1400mm for the rear and 400mm for the front.
Just not long enough."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

hi,
just checked the listing i bought it from and it said
"Includes 1.6 mm inner wires (1 x 1000 mm and 1 x 2050 mm), and black 5 mm M-System outer casing for a complete bike (1 x 2200 mm), and all end caps"

1400mm would do the front and many (not all) rear discs......have to recut the front though!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

hmmmm.... whats the difference with the XTR branded? PTFE lined like on the 'XTR' SP41 gear cables?
Dan0 -
they say XTR on them. and they used to have black PTFE coating on them.
still dont know what you are really looking for.
Just get any stainless inners and oters and fit and use."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I just got some Avid BB7's for my commuter with some new levers so thought yeah why not get the 'XTR' now im not so sure they are what they say they are..... not that im entirely bothered aslong as they do the job (although pre-lubed would be nice) but more so I need to leave feedback for the ebay purchase and if they arent actually XTR's then in my book they have been mis-described.

not miss labled. read what it says.
XTR are for V brakes and are precut to length not suitable for Discs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Agreed, the description is misleading and 'optimistic' but not actually wrong.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
