Neck airbag developed for cyclists

Standard bike helmets could become a thing of the past now that Swedish experts have invented an air bag - for your head!

The collar, inspired by car safety systems, takes only 0.1 seconds to inflate into a full head cushion.

Sensors can tell when an accident is about to happen by monitoring unusual body movements.

The clever device took Hovding 6 years to develop.

Because it's worn round the neck, it's also thought to prevent the dreaded "helmet-hair".

Don't get your purses out yet though - the pricey head piece currently costs £370.

This just keeps coming back again and again. Never seen it in the shops though. I guess that just makes it an idea, but not a marketable one.
