hayes 9 adjustment

hi,
i've just bought a bike with hayes 9 disc brakes and notice that the pads are just touching the discs. how do i increase the gap between them?

    either use them or push the pistons home and reset by pulling the levers a few times.

    some touching is normal.

    Too far off and the lever travel gets too long!
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

  • Are both pads touching the rotor or just one side? I had some Hayes 9s and loved them but at times had to re-align the caliper. Just loosen the bolts till the caliper moves, pull the brake on hard and re-tighten bolts whilst still pulling the lever....simples :D
