Hi people!
I have had my heart set on a lapierre zesty 414 (out November) or possibly last years zesty 516! But as I've been looking cant help but think that there might be something a little better out there.....? Unfortunately not sure what, definitely looking at 140mm travel and more towards an AM/trail bike but unsure what else. My current ride is a Trek Fuel EX8 (09) which I'm looking to sell to fund the new purchase.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Never ridden one but the specs are unreal for the money and they get good reviews, take a look at the canyon outlet where there are loads of last years models for sale at discounted prices...

plenty of people that you can ask about them

I was in a similar position to you not so long ago (set on a zesty but tempted by canyons high specs).
In the end I went for a Santa Cruz blur LT (alloy). I got a bit of a deal to get it down to £2500.
The Spec is lower than a canyon but i figured that was fine as I could steadilly upgrade parts over time.
I have to say I am really pleased I went for the BLT, dont get me wrong the Zesty is great to ride but the BLT is awesome and well worth a little more. I really suggest you demo one before you part with your cash.Yeti SB66c 20130 -
You are already riding a quality bike (EX8). You aren't going to get a massive improvement for your money. My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.0

You see plenty Canyon's over here (French Alps). If I was spending that kinda money on a new bike think I'd possibly be looking at a Nerve CF 8.0"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

The 414 looks pretty sorted, but I tend to avoid recommending lapierre due to cracking issues, which they still haven't sorted. £2.5k could get you an Ibis Mojo special blend, a great frame, decent kit and suspension, thats ripe for upgrading as stuff wears out. It can't beat the canyon for spec, but considering not so long ago it was a 2 grand frame, its still bloody good value!
Check out YT industries too very good spec for the money if you can get hold of one0 -
