I have just bought a carradice saddlebag for use when commuting to work. Because of where the bag sits, I am not able to use my exposure flare light, as it won't fit on to the light loop.

I've been looking at 3 other lights that will fit on to the light loop:

Niterider cherrybomb 1watt: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_840969_langId_-1_categoryId_165636

Smart Lunar R2:

Smart Lunar R1 1 watt:

I want a light that can be seen from distance not only at night but in rain, when it's overcast during the day etc and it also has to be waterproof.

The light also has to mount to the bag loop. I tried a cateye 6000 I had and it points down due to the clip and reduces it's visibility, so the light I go for has to avoid this problem as well.

Are any of these lights better than the others?
Any thoughts on these lights overall?

  • Hi - I have been using a Carradice bag for commuting for a while, it's a great bag but I honestly don't think the loop is ideal for mounting a light. I would suggest mounting a light to the seat stay, you'll have more control over direction and visibility. I use a Smart (which I believe still comes with a suitable mount and is a good light) and a Fibre Flare - if I was just choosing one, it would be the Fibre Flare.

  • A Fibre Flare on each seat stay, and a Cherry Bomb on the Carradice :)
They use their cars as shopping baskets; they use their cars as overcoats.
