Anyone had much experience with the above,

I'm about to put £200 into a stem and wondered if the quality lives up to the price tag

Cheers

Wow as in the products are wow?
    Or
Wow as in "you don't know about enve?"
    Or
Wow as in that's a lot of money?
    Or
Wow as in "I don't know jack about enve and just wanted to write wow?"

From what I have read and seen they sell very good components branded components or products, however if you take wheels as an example, I am also aware of almost similar quality products which could be 50% less in cost.

The stem, unless you need a long one, the quality of this is not quite as critical and if I had the finance to build a new bike and I was looking purchase an Enve product, it would be the forks which I would wish to invest premium in.

To me Enve is an example of a top end brand selling good quality products; however I would rather invest the extra £100 elsewhere on the bike rather than the stem.

Enve have a good rep, I doubt the stem is worth £200 quid though...
  • Is this the kind of purchase you can get away with your wife by telling her it was only a tenner? It sounds like...

A stem is a stem, it's a rigid joint, 200 pounds for a rigid joint is simply ludicrous

Good points, thanks, everything they sell does seem to be highly priced

Blowing £200 on a stem is a bit nuts, but Enve stuff is beautiful so why the hell not.

I have paid good money for pantographed quill stems to match the frame (De Rosa, Eddy Mercks), certainly not 200 pounds, but more than I should have paid for a quill stem... however, what does the Enve logo add to a non Enve frame?
They really rely on a customer base made of people with bags of disposable income...

I find the prices in the UK eye watering but I wouldn't doubt the quality of Enve products, they are one of the companies which is making reliable, cutting edge products.

Not much really, I just think Enve kit looks cool on most bikes.

You're paying a hefty premium for a US-made product too - an Easton will do the same job for half the price. It's one of those upgrades like carbon bars only worth doing when you've done everything else and the benefits are marginal / debateable.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Get it if you already have Edge/Enve seatpost, fork, rims, bars etc and you want to match your existing components

Otherwise there are plenty of stiffer and lighter models out there for much less money.

    LOL

If you've got the seatpin and are getting the bars why exactly are you asking advice or opinions on the stem? Sounds like you've already made your mind up. There's me all proud of my bargain £15 servicio corse deda 100 stem! Post us some pics of you're setup cos I'm dead jealous  .

You nearly did but they don't have 100mm in stock :x

Going to email them and see what they say though thanks for looking,

    And to the above comment,

I got the seatpost cheap and as it fit the matt black look went with it but haven't spent out on the handlebars and stem yet, your right though my mind is kinda made up just wondered what people's opinions are

    Cheers
