Obviously the revelations about Lance Armstrong have rocked the cycling world to it,s foundations. He will go down as the biggest CHEAT in sporting history.I would be interested to see just how many of the famous Americans stand by him and continue to support the Livestrong programme, only time will tell. We need to ask ourselves, if Armstrong has been using all these years just how many other riders have been using. Finally, how as a sport can we ever prevent it from happening again and be sure that all riders are 100% drug free.Yes we do have these so called biological passports but are they foolproof???

Obviously they weren't all at it. Not even everyone in his team was on it. But if you weren't then Lance didnt want you on his team. The level playing field is just an excuse to forgive Armstrong. We shouldn't.0 -
it wasnt a level playing field :roll:0

Its more about Armstrong having the funding and contacts to get access to the most effective forms of doping.0 -

Event if you discount the moral issue of drugs = cheating, the team with the biggest budget could afford the most effective doping regime, so it's never a level playing field.0 -
To play a devil's advocate it never is a level playing field - the team with the biggest budget will always have the advantage.0

Most of Armstrongs GC rivals werent clean because if they were they would have no chance for the GC.
Clean riders have had years of chances taken away from them because doping let their rivals train harder and race harder.0 -

Bored now.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

First, from the '99 testing of the 87 samples retested in 2005, using the then new EPO testing, only 13 were positive. This suggests that, at least in '99, not everyone was using EPO, and therefore it was not a level playing field.
Second there are a good number of riders who left the sport or were forced out as they would not use ped's.
It was called "the two speed peleton" for a reason - precisely because it was not a level playing field!
