Looking at using some cyclocross tyres for commuting again. I use a cyclocross bike to commute
After 3 years of commuting on this bike, my front Grifo clincher http://www.challengetech.it/products/cy ... pen-019/en has finally popped! after 12,000kms! Yes its bald!
On rear I've been using a Vittoria city tyre 28, which I've changed 3 times over 3 years...probably normal for a rear tyre, a few punctures at least
Anyway, I just want say after 3 years on the front Grifo cyclocross tyre I've never had one flat through the horrible roads of London. Why don't more people run cyclocross tyres? I don't understand they are really sticky for winter, make you work harder gets your fitness up.
Any others successes out there with cyclocross tyres for commuting or anyone disagree?

if you're riding on the road then I don't see the point. I use gatorskin 28s on my cross / commuter bike then put knobblies on for racing0

On tarmac a cross tyre will have less grip than a similar sized slick road tyre. I could see they'd be good on snow days though.0
