What's the best energy foods to take out on a ride?. I don't want to spend the money on energy bars and gels ect. So there must be foods to take off the supermarket shelfs that do a better if not similar job? the only good one I can think of is Bananas. Any other suggestions?.

Depends how long your ride is though. I'll use bars and gels and stuff in races, other than that I tend not to bother on rides up to about 7hrs.
Hydrate properly before, during and after, and maybe have a bowl of weetabix, porridge or something before heading out.0 -

Peanut butter and banana sarnies swilled down with lucozade. But as CWNT, I don't bother unless it's a long ride.
My long is a lot shorter than his. That's not what she said btw...0 -
i take jaffa cakes and things like breakfast cereal bars like alpen ect
asda and tesco always have them on offer, my local co-op has them on "this weeks special" at £1 a box bargain
have a slice of toast or two with peanut butter or choc spread about 30 mins before you go out that will give you a good start.0
